It is mandatory to be in good standing with the VSB to be able to practice law in Virginia. Established in 1938, the Virginia State Bar handles regulatory issues such as attorney disciplinary matters and complaints of unauthorized practice of law. In addition, the bar also publishes pamphlets, handbooks, and other publication aids for members of the profession and of the public, as well as providing educational and professional services for its members.
